My 2023 Homestretch Goals
Hi,
We are only a few days away from the month of October starting, meaning we are heading into the last three months of the year. If after reading that you feel panicked about how quickly time has flown, and how little time we have left in 2023, I hear ya! A YouTube creator I follow, Hannah Witton, has a great way of stepping into the final parts of the year by creating what she calls “Homestretch Goals”. These are goals that are set towards the end of the year and can help create some space for you to get really specific and realistic about what tasks you have left and how much time you have to complete them. I love the idea of looking back on the goals you have created since the beginning of the year and trimming the list down to what you can actually accomplish. This idea helps me narrow down my focus and prioritize. It is also a great time to acknowledge all you have done or see all the things you accomplished that weren’t even on your list. (For me that would be buying a new house this year, January Janae had no idea that was coming lol).
My challenge to you (and to me) is to take a look back at what goals you had set for yourself at the beginning of the year and narrow down what you want to keep on your list for these last few months and what maybe needs to be put down.
While this can be a liberating experience it can also feel defeating. If that is the case for you I encourage you to take just as much time giving yourself recognition around the goals or life events you have made it through already this year. Then give yourself as much kindness and compassion as you would a friend who is feeling similar to how you are feeling.
In the spirit of sharing and accountability…..
Here are my homestretch goals for the last few months of 2023.
2023 Homestretch Goals
Sew Something. One of the big goals I made in January was to start down a sewing journey and try to finish at least one sewing project.. no matter how big or small. -Any tips or project ideas you have for me would be much appreciated. 🧵
Create on Demand Yoga Videos. Over the past few months I have been asked by several friends and family to make some yoga videos and put them online so they can do a yoga practice with me even if they can’t be in the studio. I just ordered a new microphone and big filming light to get started recording a few videos before the end of the year. 🎥
Launch the Couples Therapy Online Course. If you follow along with the other business I co-run, Hilltop Wellness, you might know we have been working on creating an online course for couples therapy. We started filming in April and have now gone through the several steps of editing, web development, and now it is up to the last few final touches before it can be launched out into the world. 🚀
Finish the Floors in My House. As I mentioned above, I bought a new house at the end of August, which was not on my 2023 BINGO card for sure, but it is what happened. I am so happy in the new house, however, there is a lot of really old carpet (from the 70’s) all along the upstairs of the house and they have a very distinct old carpet smell to them. I would love to end the year with clean wood floors in my house! Wish me luck in this big project 🍀
Finish My Degree!!!!!! If you have been around me for any extended period of time over the past four years you will know I have been working towards my undergrad in behavioral health with an emphasis in trauma. I am down to my last two classes and if all works out I should be done by January. (Again wish me luck to pass my math tests 🤓 I need all the positive vibes I can get!)
If you were curious here are some examples of the very fun, but very old stinky carpet in the new house.
