Letting Go And Learning Lessons
Hi Friend,
I have been experiencing a lot of feelings, thoughts, and noticing around themes of perfection and performance. I wanted to chat about it with you as I find these things generally tend to pop up in our lives collectively. Maybe you have also been noticing the pull towards perfectionism and putting your own needs on the back burner to perform and earn your place in the world. These are really heavy burdens. You could think about where these messages came from and how you can let go and send those messages back to where they came from. They are not yours. They never were. And they never have to be.
Painting the wall in the office ended up being a big exercise in letting go and trusting the process for me. The urgency I felt to control the project and control everyone’s reactions to the project negatively impacted the experience of creativity and joy of accomplishing this big business goal. The internal dialogue of ‘but what if I made the wrong choice, what if everyone hates it, what if it turns out awful’ played through my head and paralyzed my ability to explore the project from a place of curiosity and creative expression. The small moments where I was able to let go and tap into the power of ease, flow, and creating without worry and limits were beautiful. I wish I could have had an open mind more often during that project.
Always learning, Always growing.
Do you have a similar inner dialogue about a different situation in your life? Whose voice is that really talking to you? What does your self-compassionate voice sound like? What truths can you pull into your experience to support you?
When we pull back the layers it might be easier to find flow, to ask for help or support from others without the burden of shame or fear of judgment. It’s okay to show up imperfectly. It’s okay to make mistakes and not know the answers to all the questions.
Your life, your body, your mind, and your talents are not validated by anyone outside of you. May you give yourself permission to release the performance and show up in your own unique way and allow others to do the same.
Thanks for listening. If you want to work with me throughout the upcoming week. Here is my schedule! Hope to see you soon.
